Flagship Application
The Research Agent.
Your AI research partner. Psyntient's flagship application — conversational AI combined with sovereign research infrastructure, so researchers organize, analyze, and publish without ever losing control of their data.

§ 01
What it is
The Research Agent is your AI research partner — the flagship way most researchers experience Psyntient. It helps you organize projects, analyze Observation Packets, explore the Noetic Archive, and develop new scientific insights — all grounded in your own Vault and the wider Archive.
Technically, the Research Agent is a built-in capability of every Psyntient Node — it ships in the core bundle and activates on Nodes whose context includes it in its subscription tier or license. You can think of it as a plug-in application; under the hood, it's a dormant Cortex capability that turns on when your entitlement allows.
§ 02
What it does
- Analyzes your Vault data using your own research protocols
- Remembers context semantically across sessions and projects
- Compares your data against the Noetic Archive and draws from Archive data to ground its analysis
- AI-assisted research workflows and study planning
- Observation Packet analysis
- Noetic Archive exploration
- Local and cloud-compatible Neural Vault support
- Private-by-default architecture
- Cross-device — enable on any of your Nodes
- Automatic updates with the Node

§ 04
How it fits
When the Research Agent is active, you're really interacting with two layers of one runtime: the Node — which brings its Noetic Interface (the surface you talk to) and its Cortex (the orchestrator that plans and delegates work) — and the Research Agent capability, which extends the Cortex with research-specific behavior. It's not a separate install; it's the same Node with more of its brain switched on.
§ 05
The Noetic Interface
The Noetic Interface is the conversational UI of the Node itself — every Psyntient Node has one. With the Research Agent active, it's the surface where you ask plain-language questions and get answers grounded in real paired neural + phenomenological data. The same Node exposes a programmatic counterpart to third-party apps and AI systems via the Node API.
§ 06
The Cortex
The Cortex is the intelligent orchestration layer inside every Node. It handles conversation, planning, tool selection, and workflow orchestration. When the Research Agent capability is active, the Cortex plans studies, retrieves Observation Packets, runs analyses against your protocols, and draws on the Archive. Whenever it needs to touch storage, it delegates through the Node's runtime services.
§ 07
Where it sits
The Research Agent is Psyntient's first-party application on top of its own Node — a capability that ships in the core Node bundle and turns on where entitlement allows. The same Node exposes the Node API, so any developer can build another application that speaks to the same Node and reads the same Archive.
