Flagship Application
The Research Agent.
Your AI research partner. Psyntient's flagship application — conversational AI combined with sovereign research infrastructure, so researchers organize, analyze, and publish without ever losing control of their data.

§ 01
What it is
The Research Agent is the primary way most researchers experience Psyntient. It pairs a conversational AI with your Psyntient Node — helping you organize projects, analyze Observation Packets, explore the Noetic Archive, and develop new scientific insights.
The Agent never touches storage directly. Every deterministic operation — reading a packet, writing a note, publishing a result — is delegated through the Node, so the researcher stays the author and owner of their science.
Under the hood, the Research Agent is a Psyntient Node bundled with a Research plugin. Like every Application in the ecosystem, it depends on the Node for storage, consent, and Archive access.

Anatomy
When you use the Research Agent you're really interacting with two layers stacked together: the Node underneath — which brings its own Noetic Interface (the surface you talk to) and its Cortex (the orchestrator that plans and delegates work) — and the Research plugin on top, which extends the Cortex with research-specific capabilities: study planning, packet analysis, publication workflows, and Archive exploration.
§ 05
The Noetic Interface
The Noetic Interface is the conversational UI of the Node itself — every Psyntient Node has one. Inside the Research Agent, it's the surface where you ask plain-language questions and get answers grounded in real paired neural + phenomenological data. The same Node exposes a programmatic counterpart to third-party apps and AI systems via the Node API.
§ 06
The Cortex
The Cortexis the intelligent orchestration layer inside every Node. It handles conversation, planning, tool selection, and workflow orchestration. In the Research Agent, the Cortex is extended by the Research plugin — so it can plan studies, retrieve Observation Packets, run analyses, and draft publications. Whenever the Cortex needs to touch storage, it delegates through the Node's runtime services.
§ 07
Where it sits
The Research Agent is one of many Applications in the Psyntient ecosystem — the one Psyntient builds itself. Any developer can build another Application that speaks to the same Node and reads the same Archive.
